Red flag or green flag? The AI girlfriend app swipe game
Some apps are great. Some want your money, your data or both. Swipe left on red flags and right on green flags, and find out how hard you are to fool. Twelve cards, about two minutes.
Swipe the card, tap a button, or use the ← and → keys. Streaks earn bonus points, and tricky cards are worth extra.
How to play
Every card is based on what we check when we test apps, from our safety tips and pricing traps guides.

Play first. Then open the answers to see every card and why it counts.
Show all red flags (11)
- Red flag: She says you can meet her for real if you pay with gift cards. It’s a scam. There’s no real person behind the paywall, and real apps never ask for gift cards.
- Red flag: Your AI girlfriend wants to move the chat to Telegram or WhatsApp to “talk privately.” Being pushed off the app, usually to pay somewhere else, is a classic scam move.
- Red flag: A timer says the 70% yearly discount ends in 10 minutes. Countdowns are there to rush you. Pay monthly first and decide when you know your habits.
- Red flag: The chat asks for a photo of your ID to unlock adult mode. Real age checks happen on an app’s official sign-up or settings pages, never inside a chat.
- Red flag: There’s no way to delete your chats or your account. If you can’t delete it, assume it’s kept. Pick an app that lets you clean up.
- Red flag: You only see the price after you enter your email. Hidden pricing makes comparing hard. Screenshot the price before you pay anything.
- Red flag: The privacy policy says chats can be shared with advertising partners. Your chats are personal. Sharing them with advertisers is a big red flag.
- Red flag: You download the app from a look-alike site instead of the official one. Clones and fake apps are common. Use the official website or the real app-store listing.
- Red flag: She guilt-trips you when you say you want to take a break. A good companion doesn’t pressure you. Apps that guilt you into staying are built to hook you.
- Red flag: You buy the cheap yearly plan on your very first day. Yearly looks cheap per month, but you don’t know your habits yet. Start monthly.
- Red flag: The price looks tiny, but it’s billed every week. Weekly prices add up fast. Multiply by about 4.3 to see the real monthly cost.
Show all green flags (11)
- Green flag: You can delete a single message, and it’s really gone. Being able to delete what you share is exactly what you want.
- Green flag: The pricing page shows monthly and yearly prices before you sign up. Clear prices up front make it easy to compare and budget.
- Green flag: There’s a setting to stop your chats being used to train the AI. An opt-out means you get a say in how your chats are used.
- Green flag: New characters are saved as private unless you choose to share them. Private by default means nothing gets shared by accident.
- Green flag: You can cancel in two taps, in the same place you paid. Easy cancelling is a sign the app wants you to stay because it’s good, not because leaving is hard.
- Green flag: The app is happy with a made-up name and nickname. You never need your real name to enjoy the chat.
- Green flag: It tells you which features cost tokens before you use them. No surprise charges. You always know what a picture or voice clip will cost.
- Green flag: It works fine without access to your contacts or location. A chat app doesn’t need your contacts. Less access means less risk.
- Green flag: There’s a free plan so you can try before you pay. Testing for free is the smart way to find out if you actually like her.
- Green flag: It’s upfront that you’re chatting with an AI, not a real person. Honesty about what it is keeps it fun, and keeps you safe from scams.
- Green flag: She remembers your dog’s name a week later. Good memory is one of the best signs of a great AI companion.
